How it all began ...

How it all began ...

course, we do not hide like Joe aka André Wagner and I know (David Sindhu) Attila Uglik have learned. Uglik family with 2 children came in 1992 as war refugees from former Yugoslavia to Germany. We spent an intense teenager with all the trimmings (and a bit more) together. In early 1997, they moved back to their home (Vojvodina), which was even before the civil war Serbian territory.

We stopped correspondence. Thanks to Joe's exemplary commitment Attila could surprise me at my bachelor party in 2002 and was of course Guest of honor at the wedding. From the time we saw each other on average every two years and gradually concocted the plan to implement concrete assistance entirely practical.

André now also studied social pedagogy / social work and we had already discussed with Attila years ago that we all make us any clear support from Germany, provided it is within our power.

So it finally came to the aid flights this summer.

On the morning of 8/20/2007 in Kirchberg.

internationally active and active-denominational relief organization "We-SHARE eV" (my employer) is equal to 97 m³ time in a large truck relief supplies to Serbia.

We took three local transport in reception and I found ways rauszuhauen the people there the good news of Jesus Christ:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that who believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world that condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. "
John 3:16 +17

travelogue

A total of 10 travel days in Serbia are presented below in some detail.

Monday 20 August 2007

André drove off in Mainz, Samuel got into Guldental and we met for breakfast with me in Kirchberg. Together we stowed my luggage and then it went off. After a brief stop in Guldental where we internals another seat in the T4 bus, because of better seating, we went on the highway. With standard Full throttle at about 140 items, we managed an average speed of 100 km / h.

The crossings were smooth. After 12-hour journey, we met with Attila, his father, Tibor and Mikey, the brother-in-law on the Hungarian-Serbian border.

Together, we as a convoy crossed the Eastern border à Serbia!

After the longevity of Sleep there were neat breakfast. A short time later, was already scheduled lunch.

Attila led us on a tourist sightseeing tour across Backa Topola, his home town and also by Bajsa, the hometown of his father Tibor. The evening spent with long conversations at the lake "Do".

was on this day sorting and stacking of the relief supplies brought from the T4 bus the day. Boxes with children's toys, boxes of ladies' and men's clothing, boxes with only children's clothing, bedding and more. Two bikes were also there.

Today we went to fourth (Attila, Andrew, Samuel and I) to Nowisad, visited the city center and a military fortress on the city level. After a delicious ice cream that we washed down with lemonade we went back home. Due to the high levels of ozone in Nowisad our eyes were burning painful! We organized a distribution date in a school in Bajsa.

At 09:00 clock we had an appointment today with Mayor Karolj Lackovic and his teaching staff of educators and teachers. We discussed various topics, such as including a partnership with a German city.

In the conference room with Mayor Lackovic and its educational staff

Then we gifted kindergarten in Bajsa with children's toys and the Mayor spontaneously invited us to visit a local museum of Bajsa. There we learned about the Slovak, Serbian, Hungarian and German background of the city.

late afternoon visited and gifted we are the home for the disabled (Day Care) "Bethesda" in Backa Topola.

Saturday 25 August 2007

At 11:00 clock was a Deadline set in a gypsy camp "Putri" in Bajsa. Sandos sada is there such a thing as a small chieftain among the settled Gypsies. He works as a city gardener and earns about € 100, - per month, which is pretty much the lowest wage that you can get (at least in Serbia).

Sandos sada us played various pieces on his violin screeching

Sandos sada cooked for us a spicy gypsy fish soup, which tasted great. Lackovic mayor was also there.

After dinner, we built on the battery-powered sound boxes, and announced loudly to the distribution of relief supplies. From the surrounding houses and huts then met some children and women.

André made the welcome and told why we are here now and some background information about our relationship with Attila and his family.

Our guys I had discussed in advance that I wanted to use that particular distribution of wealth among the Gypsies of an evangelistic sermon. Attila simultaneously translated myself, which worked great. The following Bible verses and points framed my message:

"So you had now made known, brethren, that is preached to you through him forgiveness of sins, and in all that which you could be justified by the law not of Moses, is the fair made, who believes in him. "
Acts 13, 38 +39

I told some of my background, my life over to Jesus Christ at the age of 8 years at a meeting of the Gypsy Mission in Bad Kreuznach.

basis from morning still fast hand-drawn images, 4 A4 (The Four Spiritual Laws), I explained the Gospel:

Gospel in simple terms

As I said, the children listened attentively. I told you that they need in any case a decision, either for a life with or without God.

Following this message, we started the distribution of donations from Germany.

It was a coming and going, here we have tried with a

group picture. The people in the "Putri" were not so patient :-)

In the afternoon we visited the day care center for disabled "Izida in Feketić. We donated some toys and an extremely happy warden told us a long time and a lot about the origins and development of available privately maintained home.

evening we drank in the pub Attila "Rigo" in Bajsa a few beers and played veeery long Monopoly (Hungarian edition).

Sunday 26 August 2007

this day, we really took time for rest & Chilltag. We watched films of our Star Fighter Jean Claude van Damme "from our teenage years, leaving us just go just good times.

Monday, 27 August 2007

With Andrés T4 bus, we visited with dedicated support from Ildiko, Attila's secretary, a family with 8 children which the house has burned down, where they lived, fortunately only for rent. Government support was poor and they live a very meager existence, regarded at least with the German pair of glasses. Namely, they seemed not so unhappy, probably arranged it with his fate and simply the best of it. We gave them several boxes of clothing and useful household items.

The second place we drove off, reminded me of some slum-esque place I was allowed to see in India. Again, we looked to the gift in bright and grateful eyes.

with rags on their backs we met these children, some without shoes!

the WE SHARE transport relief supplies reached us late in the afternoon around 17:00 clock. Around 18:00 clock went it comes to actually deleting the charge, because we still had some waiting for the diesel-powered forklift.

18:00 clock - since it started ...

Attila had prepared a special hall to the donations of goods in a dry place and safely.

Fortunately, came together about 15 volunteers, who together emptied the truck. The staff of Construction Uglik packed with strong hands and it registered a continuous progress. Around 21:30 clock we were ready and swept clean the truck.

A tire of the Mercedes Sprinter had the construction company Uglik squashed too, because the driver drove over a piece of metal on the way to the camp.

Tuesday, 28 August 2007

Attila got a call from the Caritas office in Subotica, the chef made a few announcements-even, because the whole we-SHARE is running pro forma transport relief supplies to the charity.

After Andre and I had a bit excited about it, we decided to make an appointment with the local chief floor. Agnes, the sister of Attila us to translate. The meeting was pleasant. I asked with as we SHARE authorized sales representative before and presented a 10-minute clear message as all the action will continue to run.

He said that Attila is our shop steward on site and the Caritas also an important partner, but we said to SHARE what's going on and what not!

We were fast and some even thought about the fields of cooperation for their next projects.

cool goal, right?

Later we visited Attila's grandmother, who we brought over a small flower.

Wednesday 29. August 2007

Clock At 09:00 was the scheduled departure. But because of the good breakfast and Attila forgotten Passport we were only at 09:45 go clock. At the Serbian-Hungarian border we had to wait over an hour in "creeping & sliding speed. The rest of the trip was pleasant and filled with good conversation about the experience, as well as numerous? Cassettes.

I was overjoyed after 14 hours of travel time at home and greeted his wife and child.

nursing home Bajsa & Perspective views

Uglik Attila Tibor and his father have with their contractors in the construction of a Bajsa Nursing home began. At present there are only a few in Serbia and relatively small nursing homes. The vision for this project is to house up to 60 elderly people. Of course, should not miss the professional nursing care by properly trained personnel. Attila scoured the Internet to be able to demonstrate to German standards with a professional working from the ground up.

Bauhälfte the left is still in the planning

frontal view from the right part of the building

currently missing to complete the project, € 130.000, -, is included to set up all expenses and costs to a maximum occupancy of the rooms and the gardens to create.

working for German donations is the fact that the nursing home is not a non-profit organization, but business is about building companies. Therefore, wishes to family Uglik fewer donations, looking like for example the possibility to take loans and use, not to end up in the hands of corrupt business people on site.

Uglik With Attila and his family, we are left so that we can first use the German donors get in touch and talk about the trip. We would like to contact the active alive and always on the lookout for ways how we can implement with advice and support to our site.
