Scars From Laparotomy

The first (full) weekend in Ijuí

My first full weekend in my temporary home I have, exemplary, with getting up early and walk to the campus, again started in the library. The library, open on Saturday mornings only and I was on this Saturday morning, pretty much the only visitors to the very least the only one besides the student assistants, who has stayed longer than 3 minutes in it. Maybe it was because it was in there cold as the fridge? Well, at least I'm consistent with my afternoon visits to the library already attained a certain level of awareness and so did the one student assistant, even before I gave him my note with the codes of the books I needed in the hand, expressed that I wanted the German-Portuguese dictionary and took it at once (... well, he has brought the English-Portuguese, but it looks at first glance just as the German-Portuguese). So I then after about 3 hours later came out from the library to familiarize myself on the way back to the inn, where it would soon be lunch, it was much warmer outside than inside, so that when I walk home again at least somewhat thawed.

the evening I had a full program: First came by with his wife and Sidnei gave me a stack of books with which I begin, perhaps what could, to reading a (very nice of him). Then came as soon Tati and her mother drove by to pick me up. On the way to Tati home we paid the mother of a friend of Tatiana from a brief visit (the girlfriend of Tati himself has 1 or 2 months in Germany with her fiance) then, there was quick dinner before it for now had to go to the theater, where watched us a piece of auto de Compadecido, performed by the theater group of UNIJUI (learn I had the better of this performance of Mara, a girl, no, a woman - because it is already 34 - the member said theater group, and 2 nights per week in my pension stayed). The play was very amusing. It played in the north-eastern Brazil, one of the below seen in the south appears almost like a different country, and roughly it was about how a few $ $ $ but can change minds. With a few more of those $ $ $ in his pocket had buried the priest at once no problem to the more dead dog in the baker's wife in the cemetery and with the Latin litany, while he initially had resisted to the utmost. Similarly, also saw the bishop when he was richer by a few $ $ $, no problem there. And finally proved to even the Virgin Mary as corrupt. To him, that the play was well acted and well, won the Theater still a plus, because in there it was nice and warm:)

went to the theater we going into a nearby pub, where you had to pay R $ 5 entrance fee, but where it had until midnight beer, vodka and other jokes for free ( including one with strawberry Cachaça. Very tasty, but actually had two drop passed it, because the stuff was terribly sweet).

Tati and me in the pub Tati e eu

In the pub we met was done in one, two fellow students from Tatiana (Tati studied mechanical engineering as it has so plenty of fellow students). And as the drinks flow at midnight was not in vain, the pub emptied from 0:30 to 1:00 quite spontaneously ... there was also the singer who had started half an hour earlier with his program, do not change much. Somehow he was sorry ... Tati and I still had not the great desire to go home already and so we joined Diego [in Brazil says the Chih-ehgo], one of Tati's colleagues, in and drove with him to his brother and another friend of his, for Baile Gaúcho, a dance ball with traditional regional music on the fairgrounds just outside the city. "Ball Dance" sounds to many well-to evening dresses etc, and, as we see in the above photo, we were not exactly equipped with it, but is at a baile Gaúcho not necessarily the case. There quite a few people come with the costume of the gaucho (the man in costume) and the Prenda (the woman in costume), but not the obligation, there were also many people in "normal" clothes present. Mostly it's just a question that played on these balls gaucho gaucho music and dances are performed (here understood "Gaúcho" as a general term for the people of the state of Rio Grande do Sul).

A few, not so well-done impressions of baile Gaúcho

003 004

And I've in dancing practiced and got it after 1.5 then hammer out even dances. As difficult isses not, 2 right, 1 left

007

On Baile Gaúcho I ran for even one other of student assistants in the library on the road. Tati was on Saturday having ridden with him to school in Panambi and was told that they would pick up the evening, a German from the bus station, and when he then saw that I had used the library in the German-Portuguese dictionary, he thought, already, that was then I was probably that Tati had been collected. He also asked what I was doing really, that I spend so much time in the library and said that it was his dream, internship or similar to make in Germany and whether I would have photos of Germany on my computer I have always lived in the here and so are so treacherous Bib dictionaries;)

too long, we did not, however, because we were both already since 6:30 morning on the legs (yes I go to the library, Tati, because she has a lecture on Saturday mornings) and so we went after 1.5 or 2 hours back home, where we had a cozy room ... cold ... That night It was 3-6 degrees (and the houses still have no insulation), but with a long sleep suit, a thick fleece sweatshirt, socks and 3 ceiling we were able to sleep but to freeze to death without;)

... and the next day the sun warmed the air and again at a comfortable 20 degrees:) After Sleep took Tati and I the opportunity and drove back to the fairgrounds, for there was in this weekend of the rodeo Ijuí place, the occasion had been his and the Baile Gaúcho. At this exhibition center, each ethnic group, which is at some point migrated into the region here, her small house and then celebrate at the show, which always takes place in October, a little of their original culture.

Here, for example, the Austrian House

011 eu e a casa austríaca

Besides the rodeo itself, which I have not seen in the end, there were performances by gaucho dances and actually competitions. Here are some impressions:

013

This is a bit we dance Schuhplattler of a lying on the ground rod without touching it and also as much posturing over the present competitors with which to dance in a change ( far right), create your day.

015

This is the competition

And this is really good
... and this is the "band" which played the accompaniment to the whole:

017 group ballroom dancing competition "Prendas" and "gauchos" group from the city Panambi (there is another campus and there UNIJUI Tati also studied the most part) - so I am a fan of the Prenda dresses (in general). They are great!

025

If you have noticed that the girl in blue dress falls right in the picture and her dance partner helps you not even stand up? (Tati and I have discovered in the video at the show we have seen not even know that the girl falls down) ... but the ideal of a Gaúchos is to be "male", for which there is also a gentleman to be. Well, who has the ideal probably not so internalized. But it may be because it is the group Panambi. According to Tati, who are studying there and sometimes still lives there, the people there something very strange. There are many people of German descent, whose ancestors immigrated to the good times are, when you thought that you could imagine something on it to be blonde and blue eyed and has well kept. NEW: Now I read in a book that Panambi 1899 by a certain Hermann Meyer beautiful in a far advanced Waldau downstream, far away from the already existing colonies, when ethnic-uniform model colony under the name New-Württemberg was founded. These were a colonization project privately funded, which was in contrast to the national colonization projects in the north west of Rio Grande do Sul, which provided an ethnic mix of settlement. Residents from Panambi distrust anyone who does not look like German (which encompasses For example, even Tati ...) and if the person comes on top of that not even from Panambi, then it is probably the embodiment of evil. Tati said that close to people the shutters, when she walks down the street ... And once it's really hard have fallen, as it has risen out of the bus, has opened the knee and her hand was bleeding and the people who were drum rum have simply done nothing., not helpful, not asked if everything was ok, nothing. Something is very untypical for Brazil! So, really strange people. Since we have
but also very surprised that in the dance group from an Afro-Brazilian Panambi join was "allowed".

How To Create A 3d Church

begins yet more days in Ijuí

In the last entry 'First days in Ijuí "there is a new part!

After the first two days had still been summer-hot, on Tuesday arrived here by all the long-awaited rain. I was not soooo very excited about it, but all the people here were happy place for you, it already had about 3 months no rain here, and accordingly the water supplies were already strongly to a close. The people in Ijuí could not even remember, it should not consider it possible to clean up their yards and driveways and sidewalks in front of the house with the water hose. A disaster! (In Brazil it is to clean common practice once a week the court with lots of water ... is so important that you can eat in theory from the bottom of the driveway lunch because it's not enough just to use the broom ...) A woman's had yet ventured, was also confirmed by the same police, rightly, with a fine of R $ 600 (approx 200 €). ; No, but no fun in Ijuí the whole thing was still limited, but in other villages in the region, the situation was a bit more seriously. Since the people had only 2 hours per day running water ... This is really a reality that one is completely unknown in Germany ... Even in the summer of 2003, Mega we still had water, while in Brazil, but from time to time comes to shortages, especially at such events as Carnival, during which live in some cities, where else just maybe 30,000 people, are available for 5 days then once just 120,000 people on the road .

Well, now it was raining, however, Problem solved. And as the Brazilian rain soaked through power, not just as the German Autumn Pieselregen, I have the whole day in the Pensao at my desk lush and spent one of the books that had me Walter borrowed from his stock (almost antique pieces), in my thesis gewurstet.

How it happened that I am on this day as good as not talking, at least in terms of real face-to-face conversations, as the boys of the board, which constitute the greater part of the assignment here talking, not really with me or only very sporadically (with the girls do it, but those are just a 2 piece, sometimes 3). The Brazilian is actually a very strange behavior, because I am a) a woman, b) a foreigner, c) blond and speak d) Portuguese ... stick Normally, just the men, on samples like me. But I'm not alone with this experience. Feli, another German, since August is here and the usual Ijuí in the first 6 weeks in the Pensao do Bosque, has made the same experience. And now it has also been improved a little bit:)

came after the first 2 days with a lot of heat for 2 days with much rain and so it was raining and smelled too strongly on Wednesday. But this time everything nothing helped, I had to get out because I had an appointment at the center, with Sidnei. What should I do with this appointment, I knew that would not really. When I was on Monday in the UNIJUI decided Walter and Uli, that it would be good if I would talk to Sidnei, and before I could say much had Uli him the phone receiver in her hand and Sidnei on the phone, said only: "Hi Sidnei , here is Uli. Sarah is here, I'll give it to you once, so you can make an appointment "and I already had the earpiece in my ear:" Hello Sarah, all clear.? Have you received? When would you fit it? "Despite my awareness overwhelmed but I've managed to agree on sovereign RELATIVE an appointment for Wednesday morning, without knowing exactly what actually for. After the phone call me Uli cleared yet informed of where Sidnei is located (the UNIJUI is namely also a few offices in the city center and there is also located Sidnei) and that Sidnei with processamento geologico (= GIS = geographic information system) works, which gave me at least once a hint. & # 160; So I met on Wednesday morning for Sidnei, an albino man in the 2nd half of the 30 (... that was the first time in my life that I've seen an albino people live). The meeting with Sidnei, who was very sympathetic, has also been lived 3 years in the Pensao do Bosque, has also been involved in an internship in Germany (in a small town between Pforzheim and Stuttgart), straight Here his master then begin to complete his doctoral work in Germany can, however, proved to be very fruitful even! Always expect the unexpected. Apart from some useful data sets on farming in the region, he gave me quite a few book tips, and not only tips he gave me the books on Saturday even be over yet! I will also probably on a weekend with him and his wife to Santa Rosa, a town near the Argentine border, to go there a few interviews to do. Sidnei comes from the area there, so he and his wife go there more often, and also has contacts with the local cooperative / association.

On Wednesday afternoon was finally finished my library card I've also tried it once. The magazine archive, I had met through the many "errands" to the lady who made my card. So now with the help of my brand new card through the turnstile in the library ... which is much smaller than I had imagined it ... actually consists only of a single large room with many bookshelves, but then again soooooo many do not and a few desks and a whole were not sooooo many students in the library, not what I'm used to from Lüneburg. In general had my Expectations more or less at Lüneburg scale, not great good and great but not bad is calculated, after all, the UNIJUI is about the same number of students as the University of Lüneburg and Ijuí, as in Lüneburg on the main campus, the central part the library. Well, this is the unreflective expectations ... What it also does not have are copiers, scanners and other copying tools. But to compensate there's two student assistants, which is pressed a note into the hand with the numbers of the books they want to have, and then collect the books together for one. Just admit it again the books away, you can leave after work just in the workplace. This in turn is luxury for me. Joa, and one can in fact work in the library also pretty good, I've found, just simply because not much of going on and the few, but for large work tables can, where you spread out nicely, do the rest.

On Wednesday evening I met then with the above-mentioned Feli (citas) from Tübingen, the 2 semester studying at the UNIJUI (only one was planned, but then it became just yet 2) ) in the "Metamorfose" a Pastel Bar 10-minute walk from the Pensao (the emphasis here is on "foot", because at short distances can be here in Ijuí, do differently than in Campinas, in the dark alone on the socks). It was still strong at the bins and thunderstorms, which caused a blackout in the city, so we were seated about 15 minutes in the dark. Even something like what we in Germany do not know sooooo much. After the power failure was the bar always full and full and bursting at the seams almost the end, as was the Metamorfose on the big screen the game from Gremio, one of the two football teams from southern Brazil. Thus, all faces averted focused on the screen, only Felicia and I stayed focused and we do not schnackt blithely about the same and different experiences that we had room with Brazil. One difference was mainly that apparently the people of Rio Grande do Sul are more conservative than in Sao Paulo, for Feli said that the gauchos, if they have a (n) friend (in), do not leave everything alone in the evening, but always with annex. This has to do with the fact that the people here in terms of relationships, are extremely jealous ... If you then but time alone will go away, all suggest the same, that the relationship is passé and you have at least debated (as it Feli, the a Brazilian friend in Ijuí has often happened). From Campinas I knew such behavior only in a few cases.

After two days now, it was really hot and then 2 days had been raining a lot, now followed three days cold Wintervorbotentage. When I talk about the actual temperatures, every German laughs probably broken, but the thing is just, as I mentioned in my first post, the lack of insulation and heating systems and if insulation + heating = 0 follows then from the outside temperature = inside temperature . So feel because even at 12 degrees rather cold, especially when one spends his days sitting at a desk. One way however, it to move so I went on Thursday evening to the nearby gym, where I had signed up the day before and I think 3 times a week to pay a visit (so far I've held out!). After all this time I will not end up like after my stay in Campinas and not even be able to Bockel "mountain" on which the campus is situated in Luneburg, get up on a bicycle. It also does great after the whole Rumgesitze at the desk to move again. The whole thing cost me, for 2 months and 3 times a week, R $ 100, so about 35 €. On Thursday I was then evaluated for the first time, measured and in all possible categories (size, weight, Fat and muscle) and then got my personal training program shown. ... For some of you may be the old beer, but I've never really visited a gym.

What I have then driven on weekends so that comes in the next few days!

The board also has a private area for the boys, of whom live here much longer here than girls.

The lady Dona Use, who leads the board for 20 years, is of German descent and speaks some German, but not too good. Why is that that has its own history: in their parents' house was only speaking German Ilse, and so learned to school age otherwise than German. Now teaching in the school was in Portuguese and it was sitting in first class for now. The following year she was lucky and had a teacher who also spoke German and its very help. At that time, she vowed never again to speak German because the language had made her life so difficult. Many years later, Ilse was then looking for a job and applied in a bakery in the city, wanted to work in each. In the interview the boss asked if they also German speaking, and since they have to say no, unfortunately. She did just about everything was still and talking, but not fluently ...

Dona Ilse and her husband are very nice, how to assess their two daughters, I do not really know which are somehow not quite as open and friendly, but this may be because they are simple almost all their lives accustomed to the comings and goings of people in the board and thus make the individual person is not too much, especially since I'm also only 2 months remain.

On Sunday afternoon I got together with Tati then a bit to know the city, the quiet MUCH and is safer than Horizonte Campinas or Belo. Here the houses have even fences, but found much lower than in Campinas and so far I've still no electric fence or barbed wire can. On the wide, as in the U.S. always nice to each other at right angles of streets is relatively little going on and the drivers sometimes even notice the zebra stripes! :) And in general allows the size of the city is also so well done to how it all on foot, even if it is for even a little bit on the road and uphill and down has to run, but in the end it did not take longer than if one half hour or more by bus must travel to reach the center.

So I hope this can be self-employed than in Campinas, where I was very often and especially in the evening to rely on people who had a car.

Joa and today (Monday) morning we went go directly: At 9 clock brought me my present manager Walter Frantz, who lives just 50 meters from the Pensao off, and we went to UNIJUÍ ( where you need to walk from my Pensao only about 20 minutes). A better manager than Walter, who obtained his doctorate in Germany, and therefore speaks fluent German (although he tries to speak Portuguese with me, then falls in between but every now and then back into German), I would hardly can meet. He knows a lot of people that have to do in the region with soy, so that the contacts will be of socializing with interviewees probably not a problem:) That makes me very ever!

At the UNIJUI I then Uli (Ulrich alias Dressel) met the people who is responsible to the University for Foreigners ... and also speaks fluent German. Well, actually he is in fact also a German. His father was a pastor who had come to a missionary to Brazil and stayed here because even 15 years. During this time, Uli was born and is therefore grew up in Brazil and when his family went back to Germany, Brazil could not easily forgotten and has been for 20 years then decided to come back. Today he considers himself more as Brazilians as a German. He still has both citizenships, but would also give his German. Despite that he feels like a Brazilian, but rather noted the German influence. Uli is a really nice and helpful person, but somehow very distant, what else by the Brazilians is not as usual (where are the people here but a trace more distant than in parts of Brazil, where I spent most of my last stay I).

Well, Uli and I were then also controlled the organizational stuff, which meant, above all, to see how I get access to the university library, because I'm not an official student enrolled UNIJUI, but got there just only one supervisor. But fortunately there's indeed something like guest access cards. Costs R $ 30 per semester (about 10 €), again R $ 5 to make make the map (so again just under 2 €) and a little leg work: First, the library desk to generally time to ask, then one by the magazine archive and a Office sent through to a lady who explained the whole thing with a guest account and says, that one has to fill in the first place, the Internet as a form and send it off. So back in Ulis office, filled out the form and sent it ... did not work. After several attempts then call the lady. Instructions: Print the whole thing and come back to her. So back to the library, through the newspaper archives and the office to the office this lady. The press then a 2 payment instructions in the manual (one for the 30 and once for 5 reais), with which one goes to fund the university, again, as well as Uli's office, located in a different part of the main building. So to checkout, money and then pull the trigger with the receipts again all Way back to the lady, the one then says that the card is completed within 2 days to be. Beleza *.

The disadvantage of my guest map: I can therefore only in the library in, but can not check out books. That would theoretically also, but I would need again a letter from any teacher and in the end is my "work" in the Pensao's not as big and practical and a bit of exercise is so good, so I've decided to me save me the effort and then often times prefer to walk the university campus in an entrepreneurial and work in the library.

The Monday afternoon began after the lunch in the Pensão so that I Uli, who in their own words at the moment not so awful lot of work, a private tour of the Museu Antropológico Diretor Pestana Fidene that only 5 minutes walk from the Pensão is admitted. This small museum, where Uli is involved in any way with, tells the history of the region, ranging from the Indians, the first settlers, the back-and-forth of the region as part of I think Paraguay, and then again Brazil, the Jesuit Missions (to evangelize the "Sete Povos [ssetschi pohwos, 7 nations], founded by the Jesuits at the local Indians, and civilize them by ruthless in front of the Bandeirantes, to protect the Indians love to go on killing or taking as slaves) and finally the settlement of the region by Europeans, especially German, Italian and Polish, but also Arabs and other Europeans such as French, Dutch, Austrians, Spaniards. All this time is to have very interesting and very helpful, because ultimately it is this history that forms the background of everything here in the region, including from my work.

explained in the context I Uli also the existence of UNIJUI. The UNIJUI is neither a government or a private university (this division is usually the case in Brazil, with the state universities and better respected than the "educational super markets" of private universities), but a "Universidade Comunitária" whose support neither the State nor any private profit, are but a foundation. And "foundation" here does not mean that someone had left too much time and thought to do something good for anything, but simply a legal figure, an association of persons, such as a club. This form of university it is mainly in the south of Brazil and it ultimately means for the students that they must pay for their studies themselves (depending on what you studied and documented the number of subjects is, does the whole thing in usually R $ 1000-1200 per month, so 300-400 €) that this money but not any / a entrepreneur benefits. It was necessary to found the University in this way, as European immigrants were aware of the importance of education and value placed on the state but not in this remote corner of Brazil thought a university place added. So people here have had to help themselves and the UNIJUI (the main campus is located in Ijuí and the remaining 3 in Panambi, Santa Rosa and Três Passos), with its 10,000 students and four campuses is the result of this self-help.

After the private tour of Uli I still fast to the Museum Archives paid a visit, where I showed charge lady before, what there is of material that could be interesting for me. Good, but browsing the archives I'm keeping for later, first I would scour the library and make up my interviews.

the rest of the afternoon, I then used some organizational issues in the city center, once hill hill down and back hill, 20 minutes walk away from the Pensão - at 33 ° C it accounts this way quite a sweat. One of the things that I wanted to do was get it to a map of Ijuí, because there are usually so at the tourist office. To me because of the identity I've also gone. When I asked there for a city map, one of the staff took some searching for such a show, spread it on the table and asked, according to which street I was looking for. "... Uh, I need a whole plan, not just a road ... I'm not from here ..." "Oh! Where are you from? "" Germany. "" Hmmmm, so we have only this one card ... There are some who in the shops to buy, but people say that are not very complete and up to date ... What just as we do? ... Oh know you what: Just take this card here, we have come along without them "?" safe "" Yes, yes, take it with only. We do not know that you are up progressions. We're coming along without the card. "" ... Ok, thanks then. This is very nice. "" No worries. ! And not running up "That's it, the famous Brazilian helpfulness:)

*" Beleza "actually means" beauty " but very often "all clear" for "ok" and so on.

Female Singers In 2010 Under 20

And more news

Today I arrived in Ijuí, but first I want to tell even remember what the last days was still going on.

In the last entry "First sign of life", there are now more photos and a small addition!

On Tuesday, Selma and I made a small trip to the Gruta do Maquiné [Grutta you Mackinäh] at Cordisburgo [Kordschisburgo], a cave about 120 km from Belo Horizonte. There

some impressions here:

evening, back in Belo Horizonte, there was even a visit from a friend of Selma and her daughter, who wanted to meet me necessarily. The two were very nice, but I wanted to jump the similarity between the two somehow not quite in the eye: the mother was relatively light-skinned, but rather Moppel and had almost corkscrew curls, the daughter was a typical mulatto, dark-skinned, tall, slim and smooth black hair. I typed out that the father would have probably brought as dominant genes into play, but later told me, Selma, that the father had the same type as the mother. Despite everything, there is the mother insisted that it was their own daughter. ... Either here is so against an extreme case of Erbsprung or an extreme case of repression ...

On Wednesday morning I had (to write and time the first blog post) "free", because on this day Selma morning had to work and afternoon I got to another part of Alan's family, whom his father's part, to the Selma still has a lot of contact, apart from Alan's own father were all super friendly and have Alan's grandmother and aunt Cida me plenty of Pão de queijo [Paun ( g) de-ke ischo; "cheese bread"] and coverslipped homemade cookies for my "home" to Campinas in the evening. I also have another brush with Werbeaufdrück Aunt CIDAS get dental practice:)

The word "toothbrush" I remember another thing: Here in Brazil is the majority of people the dental note, there are 3 to brush twice a day, the teeth, serious and brushes his teeth after lunch. Exemplary!

On Thursday morning, I came back in Campinas.

I almost missed my exit

as Campinas, since the last time I was here (finally) a new, extremely chic Rodoviária received their recognition for me was quite small, and besides, I was so deep and strong and well slept in the bus that I did not notice that the bus had stopped. Fine, but then as all the other people also stormed out of the bus did, then I realized that we are there.

have on this day I do a lot more done, only lunch with Alessandra in the cafeteria of the UNICAMP and evening movies in the Shopping Dom Pedro * along with Alessandra and a friend of hers, before the movie begins more quickly did their Mother's Day shopping in the shopping center.

The Friday was spent mostly at the UNICAMP: morning Meetings, philosophizing and black tea to drink with Dirceu, then visit with Alessandra in her laboratory and leave: (, then lunch with Yulios, later a portion of Açaí ** for headaches acts (real surprise), then meeting with Eduardo and descent on the! motorcycle to the center of Campinas (UNICAMP about 10 km away from) the Pastel ***- eating. As it was already early evening was that we were right in the thick of evening rush Campinas. On the bike you get, but still it is relatively easy, we must take advantage of containing only the space between the cars, facing a red light, snake, or roll, more or less already slow ... If a little adventure, a motorcycle ride at dusk in the evening rush of a Brazilian city.

After Pastel food back "home" to Karina's house, farewell phone call to Karina, who had actually this evening want to come home to go to again, together, can give up this plan, but for various reasons had to, and later Going out in the salsa bar "Ruda" with Yulios where we met a few friends of Yulios.

Just a reminder: Not salsa, but Samba is from Brazil! Salsa is similar in Brazil so exotic as in Germany. Therefore, it was in the salsa bar before the live band began to play first some introduction to merengue, bachata and even salsa, just like many Noches Latinas in Germany. Brazil Brazil ... but would not if the people here have no rhythm and optimism in the blood and so learned the Brazilian "students" all much faster than is the case in Germany, and also without whining by the lords of creation.

(is the person blurred in the middle of the salsa teacher) salsa lessons in "Ruda" 11 Rudá - aula de salsa

But why on earth I'm going to dance now Salsa in Brazil? On my last trip to Brazil, I was already dancing with Yulios (= Peruvian) Salsa gone without there knowledge of Salsa have. I thought that would do that for so, for the Brazilian Forró yes I had also just learned Sun ... Except that I had just underestimated that salsa but a corner is more complex than Forró and so I have quite embarrassed that night. Back in Germany I noticed that I had only a few semesters to study end and that I had been the great selection of university sports have not really exploited. So I participated in a Salsa lesson and so I was prepared for now to save my honor and I also believe it I made it! :)

remained after this evening I have a full 2 hours of sleep before me Karina's parents brought to the airport at 5:30 clock in Campinas (... that with only 2 hours sleep before a long journey seems to be habit ...) from where I fly to Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, took .

With my total about 38 kg of baggage, spread over a large and a small suitcase, a backpack, a handbag and a jacket, armed I took at the airport the van to the Metro station and from there the metro to Rodviária. Fortunately, there was two Burschis of about 17 who were on the same flight as I arrived and also wanted to Rodoviária, who felt pity for me and my whole Luggage and I therefore had offered their help, which I accepted gladly given all the steps and paths that were overcome. The two were on their way to a break-dance competition and accordingly looked like from the Bronx, so I doubted it at first, if I could trust them my stuff, but it turned out that they were quite tame. Despite

would help but still plenty of baggage left over to bring me enough to work up a sweat, especially since the guys had quite a hurry because they do not want to miss their bus. But I did anyway still just under 3 hours would leave time for my bus to Ijuí and obtained enough time to rest. After I my bus ticket was bought, so I treated myself to a first cafezinho and pineapple juice in one of the lanchonete (something like a snack) in the Rodoviária. On the bill at the end I was quite surprised: R $ 1 (about 34 cents). In Campinas, I would have 4 times or more paid for the same! Here in the south of Brazil, the prices are still a lot less than in the region of Sao Paulo.

After this break it was off to my "bus lane" to await the remaining 2 hours. And something I seem to have on me, but the people chose me out preferably if they wanted any information. Not that all around me dozens of Brazilians have been ready ...

The bus trip took 6 hours and Ijuí initially led by a green hilly landscape and then through a green-gray-brown rolling hills of lots of harvested fields here and there interrupted by a few trees and bushes. Somehow reminds me of a mix of the German low mountain ranges because of the hills), Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (because of the large fields), but that was mainly in the fields, only one crop is cultivated: soy.

When I arrived in Ijuí, it was already dark.

At the Rodoviária I was picked up by Tati and Ane. Tati had already made a abroad in Recklinghausen and also speaks German and Ane is pure German descent (also clearly legally), but had never been to Germany and speaks no German. The two brought me to my accommodation, the "Pensão do Bosque", which I have for R $ 460 (€ 160) per month, a small room (with shared bath, but 2 bathrooms for 3 girls really should be enough;)), my laundry is washed and ironed, and I will vollverpflegt from Monday morning until Saturday noon (as I only arrived on Saturday evening, I got this weekend was mitverpflegt also:)).

More to my accommodation Ijuí and there's the next day, now I have to first again in the bed, because tomorrow morning my present thesis supervisor Walter Frantz comes by here in the Pensao do Bosque.

* is The Shopping Dom Pedro, according to legend, the largest shopping center in Latin America and beyond, just 5 minutes drive from the UNICAMP.

** is the acai fruit, such as guarana, a natural energizer and is usually eaten as a sorbet with a variety of grave goods (eg banana and granola, "much like crunchy). Has already helped me with a mega hangover of me all day had left nothing in the bed, still eating. After a bowl of frozen Açaí Fruchtmuß I was restored and once again did the fruit of their services for my headache.
